Russell Dean Reed passed away after collapsing suddenly on September 2, 2025, due to unrealized heart disease; he was 55 years old. Russ was at his home in Berlin, New Hampshire with his family where he had resided for the past five years. Russ was born in Phoenix, AZ on June 20, 1970, to Henry and Ellen (Frederick) Reed and spent much of his early life in San Jose, California. Once they returned to Phoenix, Russ attended Pleasant View Baptist Church, which remained his home church all his life. Pleasant View is where he was Saved and Baptized and met his life-time love and soul mate, his wife, Adrienne, when they were young teenagers.
Russ-n-Adrienne began dating in 1989 and were married by their Youth Pastor in 1992. After leaving Phoenix, Russ-n-Adrienne raised their 3 children between Iowa, Florida and Maine before making their home in New Hampshire. Russ was a career restaurant chef and retired in 2015 due to injury and surgery. He kept happily busy cooking for his friends and family and spending every moment with his wife - fishing, enjoying movies and the 49’ers games, listening to music, and simply being together.
Russ’s unflagging generosity and kindness led him to welcome many friends and family members into their home when help was needed over the years. Russ was an uncommonly learned man who could carry friendly, knowledgeable conversations on wide ranging topics, interjecting humor and laughs. He was a member of a car audio club and won numerous trophies. Russ was a great friend to everyone he met and will be sorely missed by all. We were Blessed to have known this man who taught his family the true meaning of Agape Love. There will never be enough words to convey this loss, but with the grace of God we will go forward with light and love of Jesus.
Russ is survived by his wife of nearly 35 years, Adrienne Reed of Berlin; their three adult children: daughter Rebekah Reed and her fiance Storm St. Jacques of Berlin, son William Reed of North Conway, daughter Kamara Reed and her partner Dakota Clifford of Brownfield, ME; Russ’s mother Ellen Reed of Excelsior Springs, MO; his sister Lila Nelson and her family: daughters Ashley and Baylee and Lila's fiance Dan Fitzgerald of North Conway, NH. Russ was very close with his six siblings-in-law along with thirty nieces and nephews and close friends near and far whom he loved dearly along with many extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Henry Reed, as well as many four-legged friends.
According to Russ’s wishes, a private service for his immediate family has been held. A Celebration of Life will be held at one of Russ-n-Adrienne’s favorite spots - on Monday, Sept. 22 at Jericho Lake Park in Berlin from 3PM until dark. The family invites the community to come celebrate this wonderful man with music, food, fishing and fun!
Russ’s wife and children extend their heartfelt appreciation to their family, friends, neighbors and co-workers who have shown such wonderful love and support in their time of loss.
Those who wish may make donations in Russell’s memory to a New Hampshire State Park of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes of Berlin & Gorham, NH. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net or on Facebook with his friends and family!
