Roland V Roy 85 of Berlin passed away on July 2, 2017 in his home after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Moises Roy and Josephine (Demers) Roy. He was a long life Resident of Berlin. Many people know him as Pollock, Barney or Mickey Rooney in his younger years
He was proud to serve his country as a Marine and fought in the Korean War. Was of member of the VFW. He had also worked in the woods as a wood cutter when they used cross cut saws and pulled wood by horses. He was employed by Brown Company and James River Co. also for Crown Vantage and served the paper industry for 44 years with receiving an award for never missing a day of work in all of those years that he devoted to the paper industry.
Roland was also known to many as a carpenter and mostly for the Cabinets he built. Even to this day people would still call to have him build them Cabinets.
Roland wore many hats - Husband, Dad, Pepere, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He was a devoted Roman Catholic and was a member of Guardian Angel Parish and then the Good Shepard Parish. He had just celebrated 61 years of Marriage with his loving Wife Therese Roy of Berlin, who he married on October 29th 1955 and they had three Children: Daughter Patricia Piattoni and husband Richard (Peppy) Piattoni of Gorham; son Donald Roy and his wife Karen Roy of Milan: daughter Jacqueline McDonald and Husband Brian McDonald of Berlin. Grandchildren Michael Piattoni and wife Bonnie Piattoni of Rollinsford; Lisa Bergeron and husband Marcel Bergeron of Berlin; Christopher and wife Kelly; great-grandchildren Sophia Bergeron, Emmalynn Piattoni, Joseph Piattoni, Benjamin Piattoni, and Annabelle and Madeline. Brother Alicide Roy of Berlin, Brother Maurice Roy of Berlin, Sister Yvette Parent and Husband Leo Paul of Berlin. Many many In laws and Nieces and Nephews.
Roland was Pre-deceased by his grandson Daniel Piattoni, Noel Roy his brother in law which he cared greatly for 28yrs. Brothers Lucian Roy, Rene Roy and Lionel Roy. His Sisters Annette Chauvette, Rita Gagne and Doris Roberge.
Roland Loved to spend time with his Family and Friends especially at his Camp at Akers pond. He enjoyed his Grandchildren and Great grandchildren. Loved to go fishing Hornpout (Barbotte) with his wife and Family whenever he could. He also enjoyed wood working on any projects that his family would bring him. He was a Great Man and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Funeral Services will be held at St Anne's Church on Friday July 7, 2017 at 10:00am. Following a meal at the parish and grave side service at 2:00pm in Errol NH. There will be no calling hours Fleury-Patry Funeral home is in charge of services.
