Mr. Robert J. Brannen, 78, of Berlin, NH passed away on Wednesday June 27, 2007 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born in Berlin, NH on February 13, 1929 the son of Francis L. and Margaret H. (Haney) Brannen and lived most of his life in Berlin. He was a graduate of Berlin High School Class of 1947 and the Wentworth Institute in 1950. He had been employed by Gray Construction as co-owner from 1963-1966 in Colebrook, NH and was self-employed as co-owner of Brannen, Inc, a family owned construction business. He had been the Superintendent of the Bethlehem Landfill and had also done consulting work in the construction field. He was a US Army Veteran. Mr. Brannen was a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish, and the Kiwanis Club of Berlin where he was a Past Distinguished President and a Past Distinguished Lieutenant Governor of the District. He was a member of the Advisory Committee at the NH Vocational Technical College in Berlin, a Past Exalted Ruler of the Berlin Lodge of Elks, on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Northern NH Correctional Facility, a member of the American Legion Post #36, a member of the VFW Post #2520, a member of the Littleton Lodge of Elks and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He held a commercial pilots license. Members of the family include his wife Ruby (Lapointe) Brannen of Berlin, NH; 1 daughter Nancy Brannen of Berlin, NH; 3 sons William Brannen and wife Vicky of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Timothy Brannen and wife Norma of Dunbarton, NH and James Brannen and wife Josee of Berlin, NH; 5 grandchildren Peter, Sean, Erin, Emily and Joe;2 sisters-in-law Lillian Brannen of Sarasota, FL and Theresa Brannen of Berlin, NH; 2 brothers-in-law Robert Lapointe and wife Beverly of Chandler, AZ and Allan MacDougall of Avon Park, FL; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers Thomas Brannen and John Brannen and a 1 sister Catherine Heroux. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 2, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Sunday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
