Rita M. Robitaille

Rita Mary Robitaille, 72, of Berlin, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Berlin following a period of failing health. Rita was born in Claremont, NH and grew up in that area. She attended St. Mary's School. Her parents owned Robies Market and were active members of the community. After school, Rita moved to Maryland in her 20's. There she married Steve Renick and they raised their daughter Sara. For many years Rita was employed by various banks in Maryland, and later took a position with Charles County Maryland where she was employed in the Accounting Department. It was there she met her best friend Debbie Oestringer and her husband Andrew.

Rita enjoyed crafts including quilting, stitchery and ceramics. Her sense of humor kept many her friends and family laughing. She cherished the years spent with her 4-legged companion Denzel. Following her grandson James’ birth in 2008, he quickly became the center of Rita's affection. She enjoyed reading and loved time spent with her daughter and grandson. Over the years she traveled the U.S., Bermuda, Nassau, Bahamas, and Sweden.

In later years she became extremely close to her cousin, Claire Landry, who took loving care of Rita (and her relentless shenanigans). She is survived by her daughter, grandson, sisters, nieces, aunt and cousins.

At Rita's request, there will be no services. She will be interred with her late husband, Dennis Cockrell, at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
