Rene G. Boutin, 84, of Gorham, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 18, 1941 in Lincoln, NH the son of the late Onesime Boutin and Jean D'Arc (Tremblay) Boutin Poulin. He grew up in the Berlin-Gorham area. Over the years he was employed at several businesses, including as a shoe factory worker in Biddeford, ME, worked in construction building the Gondola's at Cannon Mountain, and finally the Wausau Paper Mill in Groveton where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1998. Together with his wife they fostered two wonderful children, giving them a stable home environment when they needed it.
Rene loved riding his motorcycle, and was a member of the White Mountain Riders motorcycle club and the Internation Harley-Davidson Association. Over the span of 45 years, they took they took their bike on several long distance trips, meeting wonderful people and accumulating several friends along the way. Later in life, Rene got into four-wheeling and was a founding member of the Androscoggin Valley ATV Club, as well as being instrumental in the founding of the Jericho ATV Festival. He could often be found working on the trails, including a trail named after him, "Rene's Four Black Diamond." He also enjoyed hobbies around his home, spending countless hours woodworking and tending to his flower beds.
Rene is survived by his wife of 55 years, Claudette Boutin, of Gorham; a daughter Sandy Alonzo and her husband Curtis of Berlin; a sister Rachel Boutin of Largo, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, mother, step-father Raymond Poulin, and two brothers Raymond Boutin and Lionel Boutin.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 1pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin with interment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11am to 1pm, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwoods Cancer Survivors, 24 1/2 Wood St., Berlin, NH 03570.
