Raymond Leo Nolin

Raymond Leo Nolin, 66, of Cates Hill Road in Berlin, NH passed away on May 12, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical center following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family.

Born in Berlin, NH on September 16, 1949, he was the son of Eddie P. and MarieAnne (Gilbert) Nolin.

Ray attended Berlin Schools and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in 1967 where he participated in ice hockey and baseball.

In 1969, he signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher.

He worked at the Berlin Police Department where he retired as Chief of Police. Ray also worked for Nicoletti Memorial and Vault Company, and he owned and operated New England Security and Fire and Safety. In his retirement years, he worked for Fleury-Patry Funeral Home as a family care associate.

Nothing was more important to Ray than spending time with his family. Whether it be driving by their houses to check on them, attending sporting events, or a daily phone call. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings that always involved good food! His second love was The Boston Red Sox and attending games at Fenway Park. He was a loving and caring husband, brother, father, pep, and great-pep.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Lorraine Mooney and husband John, nephew Patrick Mooney and brother in law Paul L'Heureux.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Ann (Arsenault); 3 daughters, Karen Daley and husband Jon of Berlin, NH, Maureen Nolin and fiance Bill Pike of Berlin, NH, Kristine Roberge and husband Jeremy of Alton, NH; step-daughter Paula Poirier and husband Rollie of Berlin, NH; 9 grandchildren, Kayla Steady and husband Brandon, Jake Drouin, Erin Holt, Alex Poirier, Shi-Ann Daley, Ella Roberge, Eve Roberge, Eyan Roberge, and Nolin Daley; a great-grandson, Lincoln Steady; a sister Lucille L'Heureux ; a nephew, Michael Mooney and wife Lorraine; in-laws Henry and Pierina Arsenault; father of Kayla Steady and Erin Holt, Mike Holt; and many close friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 17th from 4pm-7pm and on Wednesday, May 18th from 11am-12:30 pm at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home 72 High Street in Berlin, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 18th at 1pm at St. Anne's Church of Good Shepherd Parish with Father Kyle Stanton as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory can be made to Fleury-Patry Funeral Home at 72 High St, Berlin, NH 03570. These donations will be distributed to the Cal Ripken Baseball League in Berlin and a scholarship for a local student pursuing a career in Criminal Justice.
