Raymond E. Lavertue, 93, of Berlin, passed away on Thursday October 19, 2023 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was born in Berlin on May 7, 1930, the son of the late Fernand and Rosanna (Langlois) Lavertue, and was a lifelong resident. He was a US Army Veteran and had attended the atomic bomb test in Nevada in 1953. Raymond had been employed as a paper machine tender for Brown Company and was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW, the Dupont-Holmes Post #82 American Legion, the F.O.E. where he was a life member, the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, and the Holiday Center, where he was a past president and ward member.
Family includes his sons Gerard Lavertue of Milan, NH and Wayne Lavertue of Berlin, NH; a daughter-in-law Margo Lavertue; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his longtime companion, Arlene Lelland; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Lois (Laforce) Lavertue, and his infant son Raymond Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 1 PM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in St. Kieran Cemetery.
