Ralph D. Keene, 78, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend, of Berlin, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 2, 2024. He was born on February 18, 1946 in Lynn, MA and was the son of the late Gerald and Edith Keene. Ralph enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam, 1967-1968 and again from 1970-1971. He was stationed in Ft. Hood, TX before serving in Germany from 1974-1977. Upon returning home, he was stationed in Ft. Lewis, WA. Ralph received an Honorable Discharge on June 12, 1978 as a Sgt E-5. While in the Army, he operated 62E20 heavy construction equipment and crawler tractors. He received the following awards: the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal 2nd Award, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry Unit Citation with Palm Overseas Service Bar (4) and the Sharpshooter Qualification Badge MIG. Once out of the military, he returned to Massachusetts where he worked for the State of Massachusetts for 14 years and a bridge carpenter. He then worked for CARR Transportation for the next 20 years.
His family and friends will remember him for his unique sense of humor, his love for woodwork-which was amazing, and his dedication to his family. In his free time, he enjoyed ATVing, riding his motorcycle, watching any movie with John Wayne, James Arness, Ward Bond and many more.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife Cora Touchette-Keene. He leaves behind his beloved children Jennifer (Kevin) O’Dwyer and Beth Keene; 4 grandchildren Krystal, Gaelyn, Cassidy and Aodhan along with 3 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Judy and his 6 siblings Harvey, Robert, Danny, Walter, Grace and Marilyn.
In loving memory of Ralph, we invite you to celebrate his life and legacy on Wednesday August 14, 2024 at 12 PM at the White Mountain Chalet, 161 E. Milan Rd., Berlin, NH. At this time, we will be reminiscing about your favorite memories, tell stories, share some laughs and tears.
