Mrs. Phyllis E. Shevlin, 88, formerly of Berlin, NH passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2006 in Cocoa, FL. She was born in Whitefield, NH on July 24, 1917 the daughter of George and Dehlia (Landry) Roy and was the wife of the late Emmett Shevlin. She graduated from Whitefield High School, where she was a member of the girls basketball championship team. When Jefferson and Whitefield were using the telephone crank system, Phyllis was a telephone operator, and continued as a telephone operator in Berlin until the 1960s. She was also employed as an office manager at Fred Princes IGA and Globe in Berlin. She was a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish. For many years, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Telephone Pioneers. She had been residing with her daughter, Jeanne, in Cocoa, Florida for the past two years. Family members include 2 children Jeanne Gates of Port St. John, FL and Ralph Shevlin and his wife Suzanne of Gorham, NH; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 1 sister Yvonne Roy of Whitefield, NH. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 15, 2006 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be St. Matthews Cemetery in Whitefield, NH. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, prior to the funeral. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
