Michael P. Horne

Michael P. Horne, 73, of Berlin, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025. Born in Berlin on December 27th, 1951. Mike was the son of the late Robert and Catherine (Sgrulloni) Horne. A lifelong resident of Berlin, Mike graduated from Berlin High School and was a decades-long employee of the local paper mill before retiring several years ago.

Defining Mike is not cut and dry. His general philosophy on life doesn’t fit squarely in one box. Instead, he was a man from all walks of life. He was a lover of life, and loved his family and countless friends deeply. He loved the woods. He loved the beach. He loved sports, reading, fishing, hunting, and more. He really, really loved Lake Umbagog. He loved holding court at the VFW, Eagles, the cribbage table, a bowling lane – or really, any place on earth that he could share a beer and a laugh with someone. That’s how he is remembered…. everywhere, smiling, laughing, sharing, caring.

His family includes his children Colby Horne and spouse Stephenie of Webster, NH, and Anthony Horne and spouse Kelly of Berlin, NH; his six grandchildren Ariana, Annika & Acadia, and Leilah, Mason, and Harmony. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Brenda Grenier, also of Berlin, and nieces Cathy Horne & Debbie Horne. He was predeceased by his wife Diane (Croteau) Horne, and his brother Robert Horne, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 4-6:30PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, with prayers to be held at 6PM. Interment will take place privately. The family invites you to join them in celebrating Mike's life with stories, laughter, and remembrance at the VFW in Berlin on May 2, 2025, at 11 AM.
