Maurice P. Champoux, Jr., 82, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was born in Berlin on November 3, 1943, and was the son of the late Maurice and Anntoinette (Poirier) Champoux.

Maurice grew up and spent most of his life in the Gorham area, and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School. Upon graduating, Maurice entered the National Guard. He later owned and operated Moe’s Variety and Sampson Supermarket. Maurice served as the Chairman of the finance committee at Holy Family Church and also as a trustee for the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member the American Legion. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the Bruins.

Maurice is survived by his cousins Carol Villeneuve and Sandra Sarno, among several others; his best friends Paul Robitaille, Scott Lapiere, and Louis Bartolli, along with many other close friends and neighbors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 10 AM at Holy Family Church, 7 Church Street, Gorham, NH. Interment will follow in St. Kieran Cemetery, Hutchins Street, Berlin. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Berlin. Memories and condolences may be shared online at bryantcares.com
