Mary Kluchnick

Miss Mary Kluchnick, 90, of 744 Western Avenue, Berlin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning September 12, 2006 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. She was born in Berlin on June 9, 1916 the daughter of John and Julia (Chaykowsky) Kluchnick and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Berlin High School with the Class of 1934. Mary had been employed in the Research Department of Brown Company as one of very few women lab technicians, and in 1978 began a busy retirement, which included world travel. Mary was an active member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church which was founded one year before her birth. Memories include a great fondness for gardening, a love of nature, and a wry sense of humor. She will be dearly missed. Members of the family include a sister Nina Blakney of McLean, VA; nieces Karen Blakney of Oregon and Janice Blakney of Colorado; nephews Peter Kluchnick of Massachusetts and Harold Blakney, Jr. of North Carolina; four great-nieces and great-nephews. Miss Kluchnick was predeceased by 1 sister Helen Osborne and 2 brothers John and Joseph Kluchnick. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday September 16, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Berlin. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery following the service. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.
