OBITUARY FOR MARISOL FUENTES

This past Sunday, July 6th, 2025, our community tragically lost a beloved beacon of light. Marisol Fuentes, age 25, lost her life at the hands of misogyny and domestic violence. Marisol was the third child of Ezequiel Fuentes Garcia and Esperanza Huaracha Rodriguez, and was born in Degollado, Jalisco a beautiful small town in her longed-for Mexico. She grew up alongside her siblings Eduardo, Jesús, and Guadalupe. She was predeceased by her aunt Amelia Huaracha and her cousins Javier Hernández and Salvador Hernández.

Marisol was employed by the Guzman Hospitality Group as a manager at La Casita Mexican Restaurant in Berlin. We, as a community, came to know a hardworking woman with an everlasting passion for life, a million-dollar smile that greeted you every time you crossed the threshold, and a warmth that brought the sun of Mexico to the cold winters of New England. She poured her heart into every community she served, cherishing life not only through her work but also through her paintings, her love for animals, and her joy in celebrations. Marisol was a truly kind soul and a beautiful spirit who brought love and devotion to this town, for that, we express our deepest gratitude.

Life is not measured in years but in the number of people we impact by our actions. In this, Marisol was an old soul, giving generously to all around her. She is, and will forever be, an inspiration, a reflection of God’s grace and goodness in this world. Let us carry her memory forward by sharing the best of her: her never- ending kindness.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 10:00 AM, at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, located at 345 Pleasant Street, Berlin. An open confession service will be available since 8:40 AM, same day, in both English and Spanish for all community members who wish to take communion in Marisol’s honor. There will be no calling hours. Marisol will be repatriated to her home in Jalisco, Mexico, and laid to rest at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes of Berlin and Gorham, NH. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net. However, we also invite you to send your thoughts and loving memories in the form of letters, cards and drawings from our little ones to her family back home. We deeply appreciate the love and support this community has shown to Marisol and her family. We ask that you continue to speak only words of kindness about her life and death, as she taught us to both love and forgive. Let us find peace and healing in the uncountable ways she gave her love to this community. For she will not be forgotten, but always cherished and remembered for her tireless efforts to bring our town together.

Let us honor her memory by actively advocating for and supporting those affected by domestic violence. Let this tragic loss be a reminder of the silent pain endured by those living in abusive situations. Let us pray, but more importantly, work to raise awareness, improve prevention efforts, and call on our authorities to strengthen protections so that a loss like this is never suffered again.

OBITUARIO PARA MARISOL

Este pasado domingo, 6 de Julio de 2025, nuestra comunidad perdió trágicamente a un querido faro de luz. Marisol Fuentes, de 25 años, perdió la vida a manos del machismo y la violencia doméstica. Marisol fue la tercera hija de Ezequiel Fuentes García y Esperanza Huaracha Rodríguez, nació en Degollado, Jalisco, un pequeño y hermoso pueblo en su anhelado México. Creció junto a sus hermanos Eduardo, Jesús y Guadalupe. Le precedieron en fallecimiento su tía Amelia Huaracha y sus primos Javier Hernández y Salvador Hernández.

Marisol trabajaba para el Grupo de Hospitalidad Guzmán como gerente del restaurante La Casita Mexican Restaurant en Berlin, New Hampashire. Nosotros, como comunidad, conocimos a una mujer trabajadora, con una pasión inagotable por la vida, una sonrisa de un millón de dólares que te recibía cada vez que cruzabas la puerta, y una calidez que traía el sol de México a los fríos inviernos de Nueva Inglaterra.

Marisol entregó su corazón a cada comunidad que sirvió, apreciando la vida no solo a través de su trabajo, sino también mediante la pintura, su amor por los animales y su alegría por las celebraciones. Fue un alma verdaderamente bondadosa y un espíritu hermoso que trajo un incontable amor y dedicación a este pueblo, y por ello expresamos nuestra más profunda gratitud.

La vida no se mide en años, sino en la cantidad de personas que impactamos con nuestras acciones. En este sentido, Marisol fue un alma vieja, que dio generosamente a todos los que la rodeaban. Marisol es, y será por siempre, una inspiración, un ejemplo del amor y la gracia de Dios en este mundo. Honremos su memoria compartiendo lo mejor de ella: su infinita bondad.

Una misa funeraria se llevará a cabo el Sábado 12 de Julio de 2025 a las 10 de la mañana, en la iglesia St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, ubicada en el 345 Pleasant Street, Berlin. Habrá un servicio abierto de confesión disponible en Inglés y Español desde las 8:40 de la mañana, el mismo día, para todos los miembros de la comunidad que deseen comulgar en honor a Marisol. No habrá horas de velorio. Marisol será repatriada a su hogar en Jalisco, México, y será sepultada en una fecha posterior.

Que esta pérdida sea un recordatorio del dolor silencioso que enfrentan quienes viven en situaciones de abuso. Recemos, pero sobre todo, trabajemos activamente para aumentar la conciencia, fortalecer los esfuerzos de prevención y exigir a nuestras autoridades mayor protección, para que nunca más se sufra una pérdida como esta.
