Magel “Midge” (Goodrum) DeBlois, 75, of Stratford, NH, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026, surrounded by her family, while receiving hospice care at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH. Midge was blessed to be cared for by an amazing team of nurses—her “girls”—who treated her with incredible compassion, kindness, and love. Her family will always be grateful for the comfort and dignity they gave her during her final days.

Midge was born in Berlin on August 16, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Horace M. and Mae E. (Goodreau) Goodrum. She was a graduate of Gorham High School Class of 1969 and lived in Massachusetts for 28 years prior to returning to Berlin, where she operated Rudy’s Market alongside her husband for 24 years.

Many people knew Midge from the years she spent cooking for the public at Rudy’s Market. It was another way she could do what she loved most—feed the masses! Whether she was cooking for her family, a holiday crowd, or the community, Midge showed her love through food, and Midge loved to feed people. The more people she could cook for, the happier she was. Hosting holiday meals was one of her greatest joys, and it was not unusual for her to have 20 or more people gathered around her table. Her home was a place where there was always room for one more, and somehow, there was always enough food for everyone.

Midge absolutely LOVED the holidays, but Christmas held a special place in her heart. She loved the traditions, the gathering of family and friends, and, of course, all the cooking that came along with it. She also loved to fish, and anyone who knew Midge has probably heard her say it in her own unmistakable way: “I just wanna go FITCHING!”

During hospice, Midge was able to enjoy some of the foods and drinks she had been restricted from for several years, including raw oysters, hot dogs, chicken noodle soup, and other favorites. She was finally free from sugar checks, IVs, and a handful of medications. Instead, she was able to simply enjoy the things she loved with the people she loved most.

Over the past several years while she was dealing with medical issues, Midge would often fall asleep mid-sentence, then wake up and, not missing a beat, say “I was just taking a WITTLE nap!” That was Midge—full of personality, full of love, humor, and happiest when she was surrounded by people, good food, family, and friends.

Family includes her husband of 56 years Rudy DeBlois of Stratford; children Mark DeBlois and wife Lisa of Boynton Beach, FL, and Sheri Goyette and husband Jason of Stratford, NH; grandchildren Devon DeBlois, Jesse DeBlois, Siera Sanschagrin, Kristen Goyette, and Shaun Goyette; great-grandchildren Kingsley and Xavier DeBlois and Cooper Reed; siblings Horace Goodrum II of Upton, ME, Melody Houle of Canaan, VT, and Michelle Lutz of Gorham; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Autry Goodrum and Rosemary Goodrum.

We like to imagine that Midge is now walking without support, dancing with her mom and dad, catching up with old friends, enjoying all the foods she loves, and holding close the little ones she loved so dearly. Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing that she is free, at peace, and surrounded by those who went before her.

Midge will be deeply missed, but her love will live on in every family gathering, every holiday meal, every recipe made with love, every fishing story, and every time someone says, “There’s always room for one more.” She was loved deeply. She loved deeply. And she will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11am. Interment will be in the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 10am. Those who wish may make donations in Midge’s memory to the department of one’s choice at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, NH. Memories and condolences may be shared online at bryantcares.com
