BERLIN----- Louise Henrietta Giroux, 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 8th, 2026 at her home. Louise was born on January 29th, 1935 in Saint-Herménégilde, Quebec. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Marieanna (St. Jean) Mailloux.

Louise approached life with open arms and an open-door policy. She accepted people for who they were and whatever story they came with even if the chapters weren’t always so welcoming. She’d give more than the shirt off her back - her famous meat pies, kushi katsus, lunch for Dan and his boys, or more importantly a piece of her heart. And for such a big family, her heart was immeasurable.

Some of her famous mottos included “If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch”, “It is what it is”, and “I love you more.” These words of wisdom capture her essence of embracing life as it comes and to always look ahead despite the course. She was witty and always ready to share a joke or sing a French song, laugh and listen to a collection of Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash as she watched her nieces stomp to the tunes, ride the smooth water on the Pontoon or cast a line into the Tennessee River with her son-in-law so long ago.

She was a friend, a sister, a wife, Ma, and Memere. But more than likely, she was an angel in disguise too. She leaves behind a legacy of love for all that knew her and is now slow dancing in heaven with Real, Brenda, Joanne, Jason, and Memere Cocoa. For those of us still here on earth: Ginette, Carol, Lise, Diane, Danny, Michelle, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great great grandchildren, we will always cherish and honor her memory, knowing that when a butterfly stops in for a visit, it’s her way of saying “I love you.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 14th, 2026 at 1 PM St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin, with interment following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Berlin. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 13th from 4-6 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. The family welcomes those in attendance to join with them at the Town & Country, 20 State Rt. 2, Shelburne, following the interment at Mt. Calvary.
