Joyce I. Caouette, 96, of Berlin, passed away on July 19, 2026. She was born in Island Pond, VT, on August 26, 1930, a daughter of the late Cydney and Marjorie (Hobbes) Barnes. She attended school in Brighton, VT, and moved to Berlin in the mid-1970s. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish.

She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a very loving, caring, and devoted mother, whose greatest love was her family. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends, sewing, and crocheting. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Sherry Sawtelle of Halifax, MA; her sister, Ava Marshall of Berlin; grandchildren Michael Caouette and Joyce Desrochers; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria Caouette, Gabrielle Rounds, and Emma Desrochers; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Caouette; her brothers, Kenneth and Elmore Barnes; and her sisters, Arelene Wing, Jean Bailey, and Helen Sims.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 11:30AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery in Island Pond, VT. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Joyce’s memory to her grandson, Michael Caouette, to assist with final expenses.
