Joseph John Frechette, 71, of Berlin, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Berlin on December 31, 2019. John was born in Whitefield, NH on July 10, 1948, the son of the late Felix and Mary (Moreau) Frechette. He resided in Whitefield until the age of 10, when his family moved to Sanford, ME, where he graduated St. Ignatius High School. He worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until the lay off in 1992 at which time he started working for Shaws in Dover, NH. He moved to Berlin to open the Shaw’s Supermarket in Gorham, where he worked until he retired. A member of the Knights of Columbus – 4th Degree, he spent a great deal of time running the Marie Rivier Food Pantry as well as serving masses at Good Shepherd and Holy Family Parishes.
Members of the family include his daughter Jaimie Frechette and wife Shari of No. Hampton, NH; son Anthony Frechette and wife Robin of Tampa Bay, FL; 6 grandchildren; brothers Raymond Frechette, Gerard Frechette and wife Suzanne, Michael Frechette and wife Ann; sisters Sr. Rita Frechette, Sr. Pauline Frechette and Nellie Pay and husband Bob; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 4, 2020 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. Interment will be at a later date. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family on Friday from 2-4 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin.
