John Frattallone

April 13, 1960 — May 2, 2024

Gorham, NH

John Dante Frattallone, 64, of Gorham, NH passed away unexpectedly on May 2nd, 2024 in his home. He had only one son, Justin Michael Frattallone, also of Gorham, NH. John tended to keep to himself due to ill health, but wanted the year of 2024 to be the year he wanted to maintain a more active lifestyle.

He enjoyed music, film, and culture of the 60s to 80s, but sometimes stayed active with modern media and technology where possible. He also engaged in sports shooting whenever possible, target shooting with pistols and rifles, and developing an increased interest in black powder near the end of his life, in order to keep his senses sharp. He also became interested in bicycling to maintain health and fitness, eventually becoming one of if not the first person in Gorham, NH to begin riding electric bikes (ebikes) as a way to also increase the amount of distance one can cover, hoping to go on scenic rides with his son, but unfortunately, frequent poor weather conditions, timing with college, and ill health prevented anything of that scale. They did manage to make the time to witness the 2024 solar eclipse, not long before his passing.

He made many friend throughout his life, a very notable person who also lives locally was his lifelong friend, Dicky Kimber, who shared many experiences together and considered each other brothers.

John was born and resided in Lynn, MA to Gilda Filomena (Roberto) Frattallone and Philip Frattallone, who immigrated from Italy after WWII. John went to school at Lynn English High School and North Shore Community College for psychology and computer science. He maintained fluency in conversational Italian throughout his life.

He left for the Marines and completed his training, but due to a critical injury at the very end of the course, he could not graduate and was honorably discharged on medical grounds. This may have been fortunate, as the Vietnam War was still ongoing at the time. It was a part of his life he did not talk about much or to many people. He was considered for Air Force due to his perfect long-distance vision, but was thought to be too tall for most cockpits.

Due to his experience and training, he took up several law enforcement and security related jobs over the course of about 30 years, starting from campus police, to an ADT investigator, to a statewide Massachusetts constable, with other relatively brief jobs of bodyguarding and acting as a bouncer for high regarded clubs intermixed. A notable incident during this period was his involvement with a major museum heist, where precious paintings were stolen, before the investigation was taken over by the FBI. This heist was never solved, at time of writing.

John shifted his career path to working as a sales consultant at car dealerships, like Ira Porsche and Herb Chambers. He was well regarded and known for his courtesy and professionalism with customers. A few years later it would again shift to real estate, working with Coldwell Banker RE/MAX. He used this as an opportunity to put his computer knowledge to use and created a website to advertise his real estate services. At the time, it was among the first of its kind outside of geeks and corporations.

His taste in cars could always be considered “fine”, even at a very young age, previously owning an early generation GTO and a Mustang. He had access to a race track to drive sports vehicles, which also gave him good driving skills, which translated well to normal cars. He also liked to ride motorcycles, sometimes being his primary means of transportation.

His long career journey sometimes allowed him to travel and with the early internet, he made many friends throughout the country and even beyond, whom if he could not personally talk to, he corresponded with through email or even traditional snail mail.

He would marry only once to a woman he met through a similar online method. He did so due to her difficult situation in her home country, helping her attain US citizenship and a better life through the marriage. Unfortunately, the marriage would not last and a divorce would force him out of his home and give up most of his belongings. He opted to settle down out of his previously active life, move somewhere close to his lifelong friend, Dicky Kimber, and raise his son by himself in a safer environment.

He attempted to start a new business to become self-employed. Unfortunately, some years after its creation, his website domain was hijacked and stolen by a rival Realtor. Discouraged by recent events, ill health from past injuries (many of which were serious) catching up due to age, still being in the process of moving, and having to raise a child, he was unable to pursue regaining it. He opted for a new website for his new business, which would ultimately be ill fated. He attempted snow plowing services, paintball sales as a registered salesman for Tippman, a variety of website services, and e-marketing, but there was little to no interest for these services in the area.

In spite of his often poor health, he tried to remain active. He purchased a duplex house and rented it out for a time to recoup some money, but several unruly tenants made him cancel those plans. He fought over various property related disputes with unruly neighbors, filed antitrust complaints against the monopolizing companies in the area, and even ran for office as a form of protest and almost won, despite not advertising.

John Dante Frattallone put his friends and family ahead of himself whenever he could until he could no more in spite of his circumstances. May he be remembered for the good he has done and eternally reside in the house of the Lord.
