Ivan P. Demers, 70, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Berlin on March 23, 1956, and was the son of the late David Demers and Ann Marie (Goutey, Demers) Laflamme.

Ivan grew up and spent his entire life in Berlin. Prior to graduating from Berlin High School in 1974, he played football and hockey. After graduation, he married his love, Sheila. Ivan worked at the Berlin papermill for over 30 years as a Millwright.

Ivan loved to spend his time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with his friends Jim Thayer and Mutt Allain. He also loved playing softball, gardening, and planting flowers with his granddaughter, Penny. He especially cherished the time he spent with his family.

Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sheila; his children Kerri Walton and husband Scott of Callahan FL, Kelly Chapman and husband Bud of Milan NH, and Joseph Demers of Berlin; his niece Tricia Halle and her husband Steve, who were very special to him; his grandchildren Will Cheshire and wife Devan, Alyssa and Kamran Short, Jason Houle and his wife Emily, Justin Houle and fiancée Kayla, and Joseph, Lily, and Penny Chapman; great-grandsons Carter and Lukas; his brother Paul and wife Louise; sisters-in-law Barbara Whitney and Cheryl Demers; many nieces and nephews; and, finally, his best friends, Jim and Lena Thayer. He was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brothers, Leo and Andy.
