Gilles Hallee, 81, of Dummer, passed away at his home on October 10, 2025. He was born in Lac-Mégantic, Québec, on May 6, 1944, the son of the late Réal and Marie Rose (Poulin) Hallee. Gilles grew up in Canada and worked in the sawmill industry throughout his life. He moved to the Androscoggin Valley in 1971 when he and his family purchased Milan Industries. Together, they operated the sawmill for many years, and he later continued working at French Hill Lumber until his retirement. After retiring, he took on the U.S. Mail rural postal route covering from Milan to the Maine border for ten years.
Gilles’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He and the love of his life, Denise, took great pride in hosting holidays at their home. The couple enjoyed day trips and going out to eat together. Gilles was an active member of his community and spent many years meeting friends at the Milan Luncheonette, where he was known as a fountain of knowledge. You could always find him in the mornings “doing his rounds,” driving around to his family’s homes to check in.
He is survived by his sons Alain Hallee and wife Julie of Dummer and Bruno Hallee and girlfriend Nancy Brennan of Milan; daughter Dany Keefe of the Lake Region, NH; several grandchildren: Jamie Hallee, Justin Hallee and wife Avery, Sam Hallee, Jessica Paquin and Jillian Hallee, Lilly and Joshua Wright; great-grandchildren: Drezdin, Brike, Braeleigh Rae, Layla, River Rayne, Victoria, Madison, Maverick. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Denise A. Hallee, a daughter Kathy Hallee and granddaughter Megan Glover.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11am at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Milan. Arrangement are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes & Crematory of Berlin & Gorham. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
