Beloved son, brother, uncle, and resident angel of Colebrook, George Murray (given name Aurele Arthur George Murray) received his wings and joined his mother and father, his brother, and his dear sister and family members in heaven on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Born in Berlin, NH, son of Livain and Doris Roberge Murray, George found sanctuary in life at the Hospital Road Residency, his group home in Colebrook, and he found purpose as an essential worker, retiring as a custodian for Northern Human Services. Known for his contagious passion for life and his love of children and animals, the patrons of Dunkin’ Donuts, Howard’s, and The Wilderness will not soon forget the man who loved coffee and sweets and brought with him into each space the sunshine of childlike innocence and the benevolent and generous love of Christ.
George is survived by his sisters, Helen Cote of Berlin, NH; Cecile Cordwell of Murrells Inlet, SC; Jeanette Gaddy of Anniston, AL; and sister-in-law Elizabeth Murray of Escondido, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death were George’s brother Malcolm Murray; sister Pauline Murray Harold; brothers-in-law Rosaire Cote, David Cordwell, Joseph Harold, and Roland Gaddy; and nephews Donald and Richard Cote.
Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Berlin, NH. In an effort to allow for the farewell George so richly deserves, the family is delaying the memorial service until the late spring/early summer due to COVID conditions and restrictions. As George would have said, “Whatcha gonna do?” Once set, notification of George’s future memorial arrangements will be made via local newspaper. Special thanks to guardian Matt Boucher; George’s adopted family at Hospital Road Residency, Cheryl, Julie, Dan, Wendy, Paula, Darren, and Melissa, (just to name a few); Linda, Sammy, and his cherished coworkers at Vershire Center; and the beautifully welcoming community of Colebrook for your loving kindness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bryant & Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, Berlin, NH. For the online guestbook, please visit www.bryantcares.com
