George H. Pelchat, 94, of Berlin, passed away on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at his home. He was born in Scot Junction, PQ, Canada on October 7, 1926 and came to Berlin as a child. He attended school in Berlin and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He entered the US Army in November of 1945 and served during the occupation of Austria. George was a liaison between the French and American Armies. After his service in the Army, he came home and married his wife, Joyce, and entered the Army National Guard. He retired from the National Guard in August of 1984, after 30 years of service. George was a member of Holy Family Church in Gorham and the White Mountain Post #2520 VFW in Berlin. He enjoyed golfing and traveling throughout Europe, the United States and Canada.
Family includes his son Michael Pelchat and wife Heidi of Webster, NH; grandson Thomas Pelchat of Webster, NH and his fiancee Suzanne Boucher of Berlin, NH. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Bedard) Pelchat and siblings Larry, Jean, Arline, Blanche and Rose.
Private Funeral Services will be held at the Bryant & Fleury-Patry Funeral Homes in Berlin on Saturday February 13 at 10 AM, which will be live streamed on George’s obituary on the Bryant Funeral Home website. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date when the COVID Restrictions have been lifted.
