Elizabeth A. Martel

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Martel, 85, of Gorham, passed away on Friday February 13, 2026 at her home. She was born in Laconia, NH on May 22, 1940 the daughter of the late Richard and Lillian (Pacquette) Perry and came to the area in 1978. She was a hairdresser at Lucille’s Beauty Shop for 22 years. Betty was a member of Holy Family Church and the Lazarus Group in Gorham at Holy Family Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Betty was known for her smile as well as her baking skills. Many loved her whoopie pies and homemade fudge.

Family includes her husband of nearly 65 years Normand D. Martel of Gorham, NH; sons Perry Martel and wife Joan of Essex Jct, VT and Matthew Martel and wife Tammy of Berlin, NH; grandchildren Ashley Martel, Jonathan Martel and Andrew Martel; nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin Claire Morrison of Laconia, NH. She was predeceased by a sister, Janet Bond and nephews, Troy Bond and Scott Martel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 10 AM at Holy Family Church in Gorham. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
