Duane Steele, 64, of Gorham, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at Androscoggin Valley Hospital.
Born on August 26, 1962, Duane was born and raised in Gorham, New Hampshire, where he graduated from Gorham High School. He was a man of many talents who enjoyed drawing and had a special gift for making others feel welcome and loved. No matter where he went, Duane had a way of bringing a smile to everyone's face and brightening any room he entered.
Throughout his life, Duane worked at Portland Glass, Very Fine Water, and Coca-Cola. His most recent position at Moose Brook State Park was one he truly loved and took great pride in.
Above all else, Duane's greatest love was his family. His daughters, Lana Stiasny and Krista Lakin, meant the world to him. His grandchildren were among his greatest blessings and brought so much love and happiness into his life: Nevaeh Wheeler, Bentley Desgroseilliers, Carter Lakin,
Cayden Veilleux,Kayden, Khloe, and Kameron Stiasny. His love for his grandchildren and step-grandchildren was immeasurable, and the memories they shared with their Papa will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Duane also shared a special friendship with his best friend, Richard Allen. The two enjoyed golfing together and shared a friendship that held a special place in Duane's life. The memories of their time together and the moments they shared on the golf course will be cherished for years to come.
Duane was predeceased by his parents, Gareld and Angeline Steele, and his brother, Rocky Steele. He leaves behind his beloved daughters, Lana Stiasny and Krista Lakin; his cherished grandchildren and step-grandchildren; his brother, Billy Steele; his sister, Kathy Malespini; his best friend, Richard Allen; and many other family members and friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.
Duane will be remembered for his kind heart, his many talents, his wonderful smile, and the way he made everyone around him feel loved. He had a special way of making people feel like they mattered, and his presence brought warmth and happiness to every room he entered. His love, laughter, and unforgettable smile will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In keeping with Duane's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. A celebration of life will be held to honor his memory and the love he shared with so many.
Though he may be gone from our sight, the love he gave, the smiles he shared, and the memories he leaves behind will remain in our hearts forever.
