Dorothy M. Ferrante, 91, of Gorham, passed away on October 12, 2026 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Gorham on November 22, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Pelchat) Tanguay. Dorothy was raised locally and was a graduate of Gorham High School. She had lived in several places while her husband Richard served in the military. Prior to her retirement, Dorothy had been employed by the Gorham Information Booth, and in earlier years had also worked for White Mountain Trust, the Town of Gorham Selectmen’s office, Andy’s Electric, and Mary’s Pizza.

A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Church, and while wintering in Arizona, St. Odilia’s Parish. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish Council, volunteered with the food bank, was a eucharistic minister, and was an active member of the Lazarus Ministry for both Good Shepherd and Holy Family parishes. She was also a volunteer who baked for the Miss Berlin-Gorham Scholarship Program, the Gorham Booster Club, and was quick to lend a hand to care for countless friends and relatives when they needed it most.

Family includes her children David Dion, Denise Vallee and husband Dennis, Janice Messore, Daniel Dion, Lorraine Coulombe and her husband Ronald, all of Gorham, and John Dion and wife Mary of North Ridegeville, OH; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Dion, and second husband, Anthony Ferrante; her siblings Wilfred, Richard, Arthur, Alphee, Maurice, and Louis Tanguay, Beatrice Wheeler, and Irene Tieva, along with their spouses.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 19, 2026 at 11AM at Holy Family Church, 7 Church Street, Gorham. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham, from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Dorothy’s name to the Feeding Hope Food Pantry, 219 Willow Street, Berlin, NH 03570 or the Miss Berlin-Gorham Scholarship Program, 20 Park Street, Gorham, NH 03581.
