Donald M. Bisson, 88, of Berlin, passed away at the Coos County Nursing Home after a period of failing health. He was born in Berlin on April 16, 1937, the son of the late Louis and Laura (Turgeon) Bisson. Don graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1954 and worked as a teller for Berlin Savings Bank & Trust Co., and later North Country Bank, for many years. He then went to work at James River Corp. and Crown Vantage as a clerk in the storehouse before retiring in 1998. After his retirement, he enjoyed working as the Curator at the Mt. Washington Auto Road Historical Barn greeting visitors to this museum and sharing with them the history of the various horse-drawn coaches and motorized vehicles that ventured up the Mt. Washington. Don served in a variety of roles throughout the region, including serving as Treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Council 506 for 10 years, Treasurer of the Coos County Republican Committee for 22 years, six terms as Coos County Treasurer, and as a Supervisor of the Checklist for Ward III for more than 50 years. He enjoyed following football, hockey and baseball, following some of the Northeast teams. Don was a member of Good Shepherd Parish and the F.O E Aerie 1464.
He is survived by his niece Gail (Bisson) Charron and husband Larry of Berlin; nephews Keith Bisson and wife Celeste of Berlin, Gary Bisson and wife Sue of Berlin, Danny Bisson and wife Sheila of Errol, and Jimmy Bisson and wife Peggy of Milan; several great and great-great nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses: Richard D. Bisson (Bernice), Lorraine Pinette (Raymond), and Rene Bisson (Lorraine), as well as his nephews Richard "Ricky" Bisson, Kevin Bisson, and Steven Bisson.
Per Don’s request, there will be no calling hours. A private Graveside Service will be held at the St. Anne Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Homes and Crematory of Berlin.
