Donald A. Springer, 85, of Gorham, passed away Friday morning July 28, 2017 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin. Mr. Springer was born in Berlin on December 22, 1931, a son of the late William G. and Florence (Murphy) Springer. He attended St. Patrick School and Berlin High School. He married Constance Hayes in 1952 and served with the 1st Cavalry Division in Japan during the Korean War. Donald worked for the Brown Company / James River Paper Company for 44 years. He was an avid bowler and bowled with teams at the Berlin Community Club and Berlin Bowling Center for many years. After retirement, he spent many hours with his woodworking, becoming skilled at scroll-saw fretwork. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Constance (Hayes) Springer of Gorham; 2 sons, John Springer of Arkansas and Donald Springer Jr. of Londonderry; 4 daughters, Carol Collins of Shelburne, Janet Stumpt of Nashua, Cynthia Porter of Gilford and Oriental, NC and Lynn Waller of Merrimack; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 brothers, Richard Springer of Tilton; nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by 3 brothers, William (Ambrose), Joseph (Babe), Paul and 1 sister Veronica Downs. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 1, 2017 at 1 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham, NH.
