Dominic Baldassara, 88, passed away peacefully in the home he built on January 9, 2026, surrounded by loving family.
Dominic was born on September 2, 1937, in Berlin, New Hampshire, to James Baldassara and Lena Baldassara. He spent his life there and in the White Mountains, graduating from St. Patrick’s School. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Jean Baldassara.
Dominic dedicated his career to the paper industry, eventually retiring from The Crown Vantage Paper Company in Berlin, NH. He took great pride in his work in the City that Trees Built. Most importantly though, he is remembered for his love of family, raising four sons, the “EZ-4,” and playing an active role in the lives of countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A true man of the mountains, Dominic found joy in chasing deer, snowmobiling, splitting wood, and spending time at his beloved Lang Road camp, always with a cold Busch beer in hand. He made Lang Road a place for celebration, family gatherings, and countless lifelong memories. He never forgot his Italian roots, and made sure no one left the house without his famous bread, “pitzales,” and meatballs. Dominic and Jean spent countless winters enjoying the sunshine in Fort Myers, Florida, where he was always a favorite in the community. Though sometimes a man of few words, the people around him always knew how deeply he cared and how he would always be there for them, no questions asked.
Dominic is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean Baldassara, and other beloved family members including sister: Tina Delisle and husband Richard of Berlin; sons: Nick Baldassara and wife Cecile of Rochester, NY, Jon Baldassara of Berlin, and Jay Baldassara and wife Shelly of Hooksett; grandchildren: Lynn Lemay and husband Chris of Epping, NH, Jessica Baldassara of Jaffrey, NH, Justine Baldassara of Berlin, Lori Szakal and husband LCDR Josh, USN, of Newport, Rhode Island, and Daniel Baldassara and fiancée Rebecca Walker of Washington, DC; great-grandchildren: Kimber, Austin, Isabelle, Taysom, and Cameron; nieces and nephews: Stephanie Dupont Hanlon, Gina Mailhot Fraine, Anne Marie Arsenault, Patricia Couture, Tony Delisle, Mary Ellen Ellerbee, Jim Dupont and Paul Dupont; and other cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, David Baldassara, his parents, his sister Jennie Baldassara, his best friend and brother-in-law Bill Dupont and wife Karen.
Dominic’s family and friends will all proudly carry on his legacy of spending time outdoors with the people who mean the most.
