Cheryl Marie "Cheri" Merchant (Hill), 76, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026, surrounded by love.

Born November 18, 1949, Cheri spent her childhood in Hooksett, New Hampshire, and later lived in Manchester, Whitefield, and Berlin. Whitefield always remained close to her heart.

Cheri was a devoted single mother of five children and later found great joy in helping care for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Eric Oglesby, and by her cherished mother, Alice Townsend (Hill).

She is survived by her children: Chester (Chet) Oglesby and wife Toni, Corey Oglesby and companion Sue, Rhiannon Oglesby and companion Scott Hynes, and Jim Merchant and wife Melissa; her siblings Karen Skelton, Annette Graham, Doug Townsend, and Mag Townsend; her grandchildren Russell, Skye, Shannon, Bobbi, Randi, Blake/Ryder, Hailey, Legacie, Marayah, and Destinye; and her great-grandchildren Lazarus, Harlow, Colter, Karlee, and Miles.

Cheri loved reading true crime novels and the works of V.C. Andrews and Stephen King. She enjoyed creating beautiful dollhouses, loved seafood, long drives, and cherished animals throughout her life, especially her beloved dogs, Beethoven and Angel.

Known for her quiet strength, creativity, remarkable intelligence, and deep love for her family, Cheri's greatest joy was the people and animals she loved. Her children always knew they were loved, and "I love you" was a phrase she never missed an opportunity to say.

In accordance with Cheri's wishes, funeral services will be private. The family plans to celebrate her life at a later date. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online guestbook at www.bryantfuneralhome.net .
