Berlin, NH

Chad Haynes, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and unforgettable memories.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1969, in Manchester, Conn., and spent the majority of his life in Berlin, N.H., a community he held close to his heart.

Chad was the cherished son of Charles “Chip” and Pauline (Mercier) Haynes of Berlin.

He was a proud graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1988. Following high school, Chad answered the call to serve his country by joining the Air Force. During his service, he was not only dedicated to duty but also took pride in being a member of the Air Force Soccer Team, combining his love of country with his love of the game.

After completing his military service, Chad continued his education at White Mountains Community College, earning his associate degree in science and a certificate in water quality technology. He valued learning and was known for his incredible memory and sharp mind; there was no story he didn’t remember, no detail too small.

Above all, Chad cherished his family. He lit up when surrounded by his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He loved listening to stories about their lives and sharing advice and information he had learned from his own experiences. Chad loved to exercise his gift of gab at family gatherings, continuing the laughter well beyond the punchline.

Chad had a wide circle of friends and was known for his easygoing nature and generous heart. He especially loved playing horseshoes and was known as a champion player. Few could match his unique talent of throwing with both hands, a skill that became part of his legend.

He will be deeply missed for his warm bear hugs, his remarkable memory, his immense kindness and the way he made everyone feel seen and remembered. Chad truly had a heart of gold.

He is survived by his loving parents, Chip and Pauline Haynes of Berlin; his sisters, Tina Haynes of Manchester, N.H., and Bridget Goudreau and her husband Raymond of Gorham, N.H.; his beloved nephews and nieces: Connor, Colbe, Veronica, Hannah, Jordan, Victoria and Ella; his great-nieces and nephews; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Chad was predeceased by his grandparents William and Gloria Orr, Doris Jackson and Charles Haynes.

His legacy of love, loyalty and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A service will be held at a later date at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H.

In honor of Chad's memory, donations may be made to Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, N.H., 03570, to help defray the cost of services.
