Cecelia E. Watson (“Ce” as she was affectionately called), age 103, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 30, 2026 at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin, New Hampshire.
Born in Berlin, NH, the third oldest of eight children born to Frank and Elizabeth Sheridan, she moved to Gorham, NH after her marriage to Jefferson Watson on December 14, 1945, where together they raised four children – Bill, John, Denis and Mary.
Ce was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. She met her future husband, Jefferson, while working as a discharge clerk at Fort Standish. At the time of her death, she was the oldest surviving female WWII veteran in the North Country.
A woman of great faith, Ce was a devout Catholic, being a long-time member and volunteer of Holy Family Parish in Gorham.
Ce lived life to the fullest -- always ready for a party, a family get-together, a trip on the Senior Center bus, water aerobics at the Royalty, the annual 4th of July parade in Gorham, or any other social gathering where she could mingle with friends and family.
In addition to her parents, Ce was predeceased by her husband, Jefferson; her sisters – Mary Cassidy, Frances Gadbois, Virginia Bourque and Marian Oleson; her brothers – Frank, Robert and William; her grandsons, Louie and Jason; her great grandson, Michael; and her daughter-in-law, JoAnn Watson.
She is survived by her sons, William (Natalie) of Sanford, Maine; John (Cheri) of Seabrook, NH; and Denis of Gorham, NH; her daughter, Mary Watson (Ron Williams) of Milan, NH; her granddaughter, Krystyna Williams of Lowell, Massachusetts; and great grandsons, Jonathan and Ethan Choquette and Joseph and Blake Platt, along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and adored her with all of their hearts.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of St. Vincent’s for the wonderful care they gave to their mother over the past 3 ½ years and for the support they have given to the Watson family.
