Captain Edward Charles Webster, U.S. Navy (Retired), 88, of Berlin, NH, passed away on Tuesday September 9, 2025 in Berlin, NH. He was born in Columbus, OH on January 16, 1937, and dedicated his life to service, leadership, and family. Edward graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy as a Navel Engineer and received his Masters degree from George Washington University. His leadership was especially notable during his tenure as Supervisor of Shipbuilding at Bath Iron Works in Maine, where he oversaw the construction and commissioning of key U.S. Navy frigates, including USS Klakring (FFG-42), Samuel B Robert’s (FFG-58) USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG-49). He had also served as the Commanding Officer of the US Naval Base in Subic Bay in the Philippines. Following his Navy retirement, after 31 years of service, with the rank of Captain, Edward continued to serve the defense community as a division and program manager with VSE Corporation, supporting Navy and Coast Guard programs worldwide. Edward is remembered not only for his career achievements but also for his warmth, humor, and devotion to family. He cherished time with his loved ones and carried his sense of honor and duty into every part of his life.
Family includes his wife Genevra (Freeman) Webster of Berlin, NH; his children Debbie Carlson of Jensen Beach, FL, Stephanie Teague of Denver Springs, CO and David Webster of Springfield, VA; step children Laura Jamison of Berlin, NH and James Jamison of West Bath, NH; 4 grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ralph Webster.
