Beverly L. Bryant

March 2, 1930 — April 28, 2025

Berlin, NH

Mrs. Beverly L. Bryant, 95, of Berlin, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on March 2, 1930 in Wells, ME, the daughter of the late Lloyd Phillips and Margaret (McDonald) Phillips Allen. Bev grew up in Highpine, Wells, Maine and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1947, and then had worked in area shoe shops prior to moving to New Hampshire.

She then moved to Berlin in the 1960’s with her husband, Bert, where they purchased the Parker & Holmes Funeral Home. They later expanded the business with a Gorham location and renamed it Bryant Funeral Homes. In addition to being a homemaker, Bev was a meticulous bookkeeper for the family business. In the early years in Berlin, she took great pride in the funeral home, spending countless hours behind the scenes renovating, wallpapering, painting, and ensuring that everything was properly maintained. Over the years, Bev and Bert worked side by side to help grow their small-town business into the firm it is today.

Bev was active in her community, serving on numerous boards and organizations, including the Androscoggin Valley Hospital Auxiliary, the Salvation Army, and St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she served for many years as Treasurer, among others. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron and later held positions in the Grand Line for the State of New Hampshire. Bev was an accomplished bowler, attending a national senior’s championship in Oklahoma as the only representative of the state of New Hampshire that year. She was also a talented golfer, achieving a Hole-in-One at the Androscoggin Valley Country Club. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and Cribbage, working on jigsaw puzzles, knitting, and spending winters in Florida with her husband.

She is survived by a son B. Edward Bryant and wife Laurie of Berlin, NH; daughter Darcy M. Bryant and her family Jerry and James Brehany of Citra, FL; grandson David E. Bryant and wife Hannah of Berlin, NH; granddaughter Brianna L. Bryant and companion Kris Blais of Berlin, NH; her cherished great-granddaughter Margaret Anne; several in-laws, nieces and nephews, and a cousin. She was predeceased by her husband, Bertrand E. Bryant, her step-father, Charles Allen, and her brother, Nelson Phillips.
