Mrs. Assunta M. Sue Trottier, 86, of Berlin, NH passed away on Saturday morning Dec. 24, 2005 at her home. She was born in Lawrence, MA on Aug. 15, 1919 the daughter of Giovanni and Margherita (Cozzone) Elia and attended schools there and has resided in Berlin since the late 1940s. She was married to Leon O. Trottier and became a widow at the age of 38 raising three young children and held a number of jobs to raise her family. Sue did reweaving at home, served as an answering service for a company out of town, took in a high school student from out of town, worked part time at the local library and in 1963 took on a full time job in the business office at the local County Courthouse for the County of Coos and retired in 1981. She then ran for County Commissioner in 1985 and was elected on the Republican ticket and held that position for many terms. Sue was an active volunteer. She volunteered for years for the American Cancer Society serving as ward chairman and city chairman in 1967 and was involved with the 4H girls. She was a member of St. Kieran Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish. Members of her family include a daughter Christine Moores and her husband Robert (Spider) Moores of Berlin; a son John Trottier and his wife Carol of Gilford, NH; a daughter-in-law Sandy Trottier of Berlin, NH; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leon O. Trottier and her son Leon J. Trottier. SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday December 29, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. Interment will be in St. Marys Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to the St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts, P.O. Box 339, Berlin, NH 03570.
