Ann M. Holt, 77, formerly of Berlin, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH. She was born in Berlin on December 22, 1948, the daughter of Arthur R. Couture, Sr. and Ruth L. (Hickey) Couture. She lived most of her life in Berlin. She had been employed as a secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services for 32 years. Ann was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, was an avid cross-country skier and was a former secretary of the Nansen Ski Club. One of her happiest places was her camp at Diamond Pond, a special gathering spot for family through every season. Summers were spent with family and friends canoeing and winters brought snowmobilers. There are fond memories of staying at the little inn there over a holiday weekend, all gathering for breakfast. She gardened and harvested for many years. Then canned the fruits of her labor. Her family will always remember: Grammy’s piccalilli, her red pepper relish and the many meat pies she made each fall and shared
Ann had a love of music. It played throughout her home and even at the nursing home, music remained a steady companion, bringing her joy. She also had her favorites—Mary’s Pizza among them—a small but meaningful pleasure that those who knew her will smile to remember. She and her daughter, Amy, loved going to Canada to visit family as well as shopping. She remained connected to many of our Canadian family. She traveled to Germany with family friends, the Wights—an experience she treasured.
There were good times—many of them—and they continue to surface in stories, photographs, and shared laughter. Her memories were vivid. All this before she became ill thankfully. She will be remembered for her hard work, strength in overcoming hardships and her lasting friendships.
Family includes her siblings Arthur R. “Sonny” Couture and wife Brenda of Berlin, NH, Denise Couture of Houston, TX, and Cheryl Couture of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren Quinn and Evan Gardner of Franklin, NH; aunts including Gloria Sloane and husband Bob of Berlin and several others in Canada; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Amy Holt on July 25, 2021.
A Public Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 11 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Per Ann’s wishes, formal calling hours will not be held, however, those who wish may offer their condolences to the family from 10 -11, prior to the service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH, 03303 or to a charity of one’s choice.
