Albert J. Piattoni, Jr., 71, of Berlin, NH died peacefully on Monday, September, 17, 2018 after ten months of struggling with continuing medical challenges. He was born on March 21, 1947, a son of the late Albert and Jeannette Piattoni, Sr.
Often described as a character by the many who knew him, Al retired after having worked for the NH Dept. of Transportation in Pinkham Notch for almost 40 years. He was especially proud of the fact that he was out sick only a very few times throughout his entire career. After his retirement, he became well known throughout the Berlin area for his pizzas and manicotti which he happily made and delivered to family and friends for all occasions. He was particularly proud of his large collection of Rachael Ray cookware. He was also fiercely proud of his independence.
Al is survived by his brothers Peter of Portsmouth, NH, Richard of Gorham, and John of Naples, Me. In addition, he leaves several nieces and nephews, including godchildren nephew Michael Piattoni and niece Kara Piattoni, together with nieces Gina Saladino and Lisa Bergeron and nephew Kyle Piattoni. He was also predeceased by his nephew Daniel Piattoni. He was particularly close to his great niece, Sophia, who could always get him to smile. He is also survived by his step family Steve and Michelle Couture and their respective families. They faithfully watched over each other all these years.
Following his cremation, a graveside service will be held for family and friends at Holy Family Cemetery in Gorham, NH on Saturday, September 29, 2018, 10:00 am.
