Albert "Al" A. Gemmiti, 94, of Berlin, passed away on May 27, 2026, at the Coos County Nursing Home. A lifetime resident was born on February 18 ,1932 and was the son of the late James and Congenita (Tina) Dalphonse. Al attended local schools., he was a member of the BHS band playing trumpet. Al also played varsity basketball and was on the state champion hockey team. Al graduated from Berlin High School in 1950. He was a US Navy Veteran, having initially joined the reserves in 1950 prior to being called to active duty in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953. He became a Korean Veteran.

Following his military service, Al began his career with Bell Tell as an installer, working his way up through to positions of area supervisor for Berlin. He grew as the technology grew and the company recognized his value was to the North Country as they created New England Telephone, Al was given more responsibility more service area Littleton, Lancaster, along the VT. border, to Pittsburg and skirting Maine. Al was responsible for residential, business, and construction was added toward the end of his career. Al grew with the telecommunications as they merged NYNEX, and lastly Verizon. Retiring after 34 years of service as Regional Area Service Manager.

With all his work commitment Al found time to be involved in the community he loved as a member of the Berlin Rotary Club where he became its President and was honored with the Paul Harris Fellow. He also served as a board member of the A. V. United Way. Al was Assistant District Commissioner Northern District, Daniel Webster Council.

Al believed in Berlin to the extent he became a proud property owner on main street adjacent to city hall, his property became a beacon for that part of main street.

Al loved to snow and water ski, play golf, swim and boat at the cottage on Ossipee lake. He was known for lobster, clam and corn dinner at the cottage withe the family.

Al 's family was his pride and joy, always willing to listen and give advice. In addition to lend a hand on various work projects.

Family includes his children Gary Gemmiti and wife Kim of Limerick, Me. Lisa Gemmiti of San Francisco, Ca, Andrea Gemmiti of Redmond, WA, and Jamie Gemmiti of Intervale NH and daughter Sophia Gemmiti of Myrtle Beach, SC; and grandson Brandon Gemmiti of Aurora, Co; his brother Donald Gemmiti of Nokomis, FL; Great grandchildren Cianna, Carina, Carisa, Kaliyah Gemmiti of Aurora, Co., niece Marcy Libbick and her husband Robert of Bethlehem, PA, and several other nieces and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 4th, 2026 from 4 to 6 pm at the Bryant Funeral Home 180 Hillside Ave Berlin, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday June 5th, 2026 at 10 am at the Holy Family Church, 7 Church St. Gorham, NH. Interment will immediately follow the mass at the St. Kieran Cemetery, Hutchins St. Berlin, NH.
