William J. Costello

William John Costello, 64, passed away on Sunday August 10, 2014 at the Veterans Medical Center in White River Junction, VT. He was born in Berlin, NH on December 20, 1949, a son of Lawrence Costello and Therese (Murphy) Mayo. He served in the U.S. Army and traveled the United States and Europe, returning to the North Country many years ago. William was a self-employed mechanic and enjoyed working on motorcycles. Family members include two sisters, Susan Costello and her husband Alain of Berlin, NH and Melody Smelser and her husband Jerry of Lafontaine, IN, grandchildren Brandon Costello, Doug Costello, Steven Daniels and Deanna Tucker; his former wife Jutta Watkins of Granite City, IL, an aunt, Mary Thompson of Venore, TN, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence Costello, Therese and Buster Mayo, his children David Costello and Jane Daniels, a brother Michael Costello and a sister Katherine Paradis Donaldson. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday August 18, 2014 at 1 PM at Holy Family Cemetery in Gorham, NH. Donations may be made in his memory to the VA Hospice, c/o VA Hospital, 215 N. Main St., White River Jct., VT 05009. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bryant Funeral Home, Berlin-Gorham, NH.
