Virginia B. Balon

Virginia B. Balon, 73, of Gorham, NH, passed away on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. She was born in Pennsylvania on April 1, 1941 the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Wywada and was raised there. After her marriage, she moved to Connecticut and had resided there for many years prior to moving to Gorham in 2004. Virginia had been employed by the Danbury, CT school system as a cafeteria worker. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and was a member of Holy Family Church, the Red Hat Society of Gorham and Berlin and was active with The Gorham Seniors. She enjoyed the prayer shawl ministry, cooking and attending the casino. Family includes her husband Bernard Balon of Gorham, NH; daughter Christine Kokinchak and husband Mark of Southbury, CT; son Robert Balon and wife Roberta of Gorham, NH; 4 grandchildren Bernard Kokinchak of Southbury, CT, Richard Kokinchak of Southbury, CT, Kyle Balon, USAF, stationed in Clovis, NM and Cameron Balon of Gorham, NH; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Sylvia Kalinski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 24, 2014 at 10AM at Holy Family Church in Gorham. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, prior to the funeral. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to a charity of ones choice.
