Viola (Lang) Shields

Viola (Lang)Shields, 75, of Berlin, passed away on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. She was born in West Milan, NH on July 12, 1939 the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Delano) Lang and was raised in Lancaster. She returned to Berlin at 16 and had lived in various places during her life, returning to Berlin in June of 2012. She had worked as a housekeeper in her younger years but spent most of her life raising her children. Viola enjoyed music, especially Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis, and going to thrift stores. The family would like to thank the staff of Androscoggin Valley Hospital for the good care they provided to Viola. Family includes her sons Donald Fortin of Tucson, AZ, Michael Fortin of Berlin, NH, Vincent Fortin of Hill, NH, Shawn Robinson of Berlin, NH and Carl Robinson DeLio of Orlando, FL; daughters Kathy Fortin of NH and Lauren Beland-Betz of Sarasota, FL; 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters Addie Flynn of Gorham, NH and Lillian Rasmussen of Berlin, NH; brothers Arthur Lang of Berlin, NH and Richard Lang of Falon, NV; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by daughters Rita Fortin, Terri Fortin and Brenda Fortin. Services will be held at a later date. The Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in her memory to the Androscoggin Valley Hospital.
