Teresa C. Whitehurst

Teresa C. Whitehurst, PhD, 65, of Boston, MA, passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2020 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. She was born in Portsmouth, VA on December 9, 1954, the daughter of Floyd T. and Ouida (Alford) Whitehurst and spent her childhood in southeastern Virginia. As an adult she lived in many places, including Germany, Nashville, Virginia, Atlanta, and Boston.



Teresa was trained as a Clinical Psychologist, receiving her Doctorate from Vanderbilt University in 1988. In addition to treating patients in private practice, she worked at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts and for Kaiser Permanente in Atlanta. She was an avid reader and prolific writer. She published several books, including “The Practical Therapist” and “How Would Jesus Raise a Child.”



Teresa leaves two daughters, Sascha Demerjian (Peter) of Oak Park, Illinois, and Isadora Pennington (Matthew McDaniel) of Atlanta; a brother David Whitehurst (Bonnie) of Chesapeake, VA; friend Bob Paradise of Berlin, NH; and three grandchildren.
