Susan Kernan

Susan Kernan, 90, of Peabody, MA and recently of Berlin, NH, passed away on Saturday February 18, 2017 at the Coos County Nursing Home. She was born in Hanau, Germany on March 29, 1926, the daughter of Heinz and Greta (Ehrmann) Krieg and was raised in Germany. She worked for the U.S. Liberation Forces in 1945-46, and successfully gained early release of her mother from the Theresienstadt concentration camp. She moved to the United States at the age of 21. Sue raised her family in Baltimore, MD, relocated to Florida for about 10 years, then moved to a retirement community in Peabody, MA. She moved to NH earlier this month to be with her family. Sue loved to play cards and was an avid Bridge player. She traveled extensively with her husband during his lifetime, and later shared her love of travel through a special trip with each of her grandchildren. Family includes her sons, Larry Kernan and wife Mary of Bedford, MA, and Don Kernan and wife Sherrill Tracy of Shelburne, NH; grandchildren Kim Reid and husband Rob of Burlington, VT, Zach Kernan and wife Ashley of Centerville, UT, Josh Kernan of Hanover, NH, Katie Weathers and husband Dan of Anchorage, AK, Peter Kernan of Perth,Australia and Elizabeth Kernan of Lexington, MA; 3 great grandchildren Henry and Warner Reid, and Kasey Kernan. She was predeceased by her husband Paul Kernan and a sister Ursel Weber. A Celebration of her Life will take place in the summer.
