Ruth Cellupica, 96, formerly of Berlin, NH passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Scarborough Terrace, an assisted living facility in Scarborough, ME.She was born in Berlin, NH on September 2, 1921, the daughter of Oscar and Emma (Hamel) Gonya, and was a lifelong resident of Berlin until 2012, when she moved to the Portland ME area. She married her husband, Anthony (Tony) Cellupica in 1946.Ruth was educated in Berlin schools, including St. Regis Academy and Berlin High School, where she graduated in 1939. She worked at the Brown Company offices, and at the Ware Knitters textile company in Berlin, before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker.Ruth enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of Androscoggin Valley Country Club. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary of the Androscoggin Valley Hospital and the Red Cross Bloodmobile, and was an active member of St. Kierans Parish and the Altar Guild there. She also enjoyed candlepin bowling, and won numerous local trophies. Tony and Ruth were longtime fixtures in the Berlin community. Members of her family include son Thomas Cellupica and wife Ruth of South Portland, ME; son Paul Cellupica and his partner Jesse Liu of New York, NY; grandchildren Kendall Cellupica and wife Jess; Karin Loretz and husband Brian: and Noelle Cellupica: and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony, her sisters Doris, Dorothy, and Pauline, and her brother Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, on Friday, November 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in St. Kieran Cemetery.
