Romeo P Croteau

Romeo P. Croteau of Coolidge Street passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was 87.

Born on July 24, 1926 in Berlin, NH, Romeo was the son of the late Argenas and Anna (Roy) Croteau.

On October 11, 1958, he married Therese Couture and together they raised three daughters.

He served in the US Army during the Korean Era.

Romeo was employed in the towel room for Brown Company/James River Paper Corp in Berlin, NH.

He was a communicant of the St. Joseph Parish which later became Good Shepherd Parish.

In retirement, he and Therese spent three winters in Mims, FL. He also served as a volunteer in the community including St. Joseph Church and the Holiday Center.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His greatest love was his family. He was a very loving, caring and devoted, husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed taking the grandchildren out for ice cream and then on for a moose tour.

He was a 3rd & 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed playing cribbage, and was a great fan of the Berlin Maroons Hockey Team.

Besides his parents, he is pre-deceased by his twin brother Rosario and brothers Josaphat (Joe) and Gerard Croteau and sisters Albertine Landry, Lorraine Vachon, and Clarisse Labrecque.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Therese (Couture) Croteau of Berlin, three daughters Joan Couture and husband Ron of Berlin, Cecile Baldassara and husband Nick of Greece, NY, and Rita Gagnon and husband Pierre of Bow, NH., grandchildren Karen Gagnon of Bow, NH, Lynn Lemay and husband Chris of Epping, NH, and Lori Szakal and husband Lt Jg Joshua Szakal of Virginia Beach, VA, a step-granddaughter Sharleane Farris of Lancaster, NH, two great-grandchildren Jocelyn and Connor Ives, and a step-great-grandson Jason Farris; Sisters Theresa Fortier, Simone Lavoie, Lucia Dupuis, and Rollande Levesque all of Berlin and Beatrice Welch of Milan, several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Monday, March 3rd at St. Anne's Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. Burial will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call on the family on Sunday, March 2nd from 2-4pm and 6-9pm and Monday, March 3rd from 11:30am to 12:30 pm at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin.
