Roger E Poulin

April 8, 1945 — September 1, 2017

Berlin, NH Roger Poulin passed into the wonder and joy of the next life on Friday, September 1st at age 72 after suffering a stroke while his wife, Laureen, was battling cancer that took her life on July 29.

Roger was born on April 8, 1945, the son of Joseph and Mary Rose (Gastonguay) Poulin. He was a lifelong resident in Berlin. He was a graduate of Berlin High School in the Class of 1963.

On June 3, 1967, he married Laureen Marois of Berlin and spent five decades as husband and wife, but more so, as best friends and companions.

While Roger worked at many places in Berlin, he often shared memories of his 17 years at the Converse Rubber Company- Granite State Division and his time at the James River Paper Mill.

Rogers passions were going to the Eagles club, playing poker, and trying to win at the casino. While not a bingo player, he often accompanied his wife, Laureen, who loved the game. He was the most hardcore John Wayne fan having watched every one of his movies and having named his eldest son, Wayne, after the Hollywood actor. He loved to collect McDonalds memorabilia and playing solitaire on his iPad.

He was impeccably on time and lived his life by the clock and the calendar. Punctuality was the bane of his existence and many of his relatives could share a story or two about his obsession of being punctual. He was a creature of habit, with a routine that he created and truly loved. He had to go out daily and was a lover of all animals, especially his special friend, Benny, a loving pet Schnoodle. He was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.

While he often proclaimed that he was a "Scrooge," and enjoyed being called the "Bah Humbug" famous Charles Dickens character, he had a heart of gold and was kind and caring to many. In fact, he was really more like the reformed Scrooge.

A few days before he passed, he told relatives that his wife, Laureen, had come to visit him and told him that she was at peace in the afterlife. He said that he missed her terribly and that he prayed every night that he might join her. His last wish came true.

While medical conditions ultimately ended his life, many believe that he truly died from a broken heart after his wifes passing.

Roger is survived by his son, Eric Poulin and partner, Kent Walsh of Berlin, New Hampshire and his son, Wayne Poulin-Jenks and spouse, Michael Jenks of Agawam, Massachusetts. He is also survived by his only grandchild, Ryan Poulin of Orlando, Florida. He also leaves behind his siblings, Regina Lapointe and companion Pete of Berlin, Beatrice Labeaumont of Berlin, Claudette Campbell and husband, Maurice of Lyman, ME; brother Robert Poulin and companion Diane of Laconia and Berlin. Several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years Laureen Poulin who passed away on July 29th of this year; a brother, Armand Poulin, and a sister, Theresa Emmett.
