Rita M Sands

Rita M (Gallant) Sands, a resident of Coos County Nursing Home, formally of Promenade Street, Gorham, NH, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015. She was 87.

She was born in Worcester, MA on November 13, 1927. She was the daughter of Edward and Eugenie (Bougouise) Gallant.

A former resident of Berlin, she was married Calvin Welch and together they raised three sons and a daughter. She then moved to Brockton, MA where she lived for several years and worked at Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Brockton, MA. In retirement, she moved back to Gorham, NH.

Rita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family.

Besides her parents Rita was predeceased by her husband Robert Sands who died in 1981, a brother Alvin Gallant and a sister Edna Tremblay.

She leaves three sons; Edward Welch and spouse Jackie of Safety Harbor, FL, Michael Welch and spouse George of Brockton, MA, and James Welch and spouse Linda of Milan; a daughter Gail Welch and spouse Trudy of Bangor ME; Three grandchildren Brian Welch and spouse Amy of Berlin, Kevin Welch and spouse Amy, and James Welch and spouse Lindsay of Brockton, MA; two great-grandchild Connor Welch and Caiden Welch. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, September 15th at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH. Calling hours will be held from 8:30am to 10:00am Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Gorham, NH.
