Rita J Doucette

Rita J. Doucette passed away in the warm company of family, friends and loving caregivers at the Morrison Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. She was 94 years old.

Born in Berlin on September 8, 1923 she was the daughter of Edward and Marie (Marier) Arsenault. She was the oldest of eight children. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1942. In 1946 she married Norman Doucette and together they raised their three children and made their home in Milan, operating Doucettes Dairy in partnership with his brother Howard.

Among the many joys in Ritas life were her family and her faith; she was a loving and wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings and often hosted memorable meals with her extraordinary cooking skills. Rita inspired generations of enthusiastic berry pickers and pie makers. She had a strong commitment to her Catholic faith, making a number of Pilgrimages to the holy sites in Europe and Israel. Rita was also a devoted member of the local Catholic churches and several prayer groups.

Rita spent her last four years at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH where caregivers, staff and residents brightened her days with their exceptional love, friendship and caring.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Norman who passed away in 1975; a daughter Elaine Doucette who passed away in 1985; brothers Roger, Donald, and Rene; sister Ida Doucette.

She leaves behind two sons; Ronald Doucette and wife Diana of West Chesterfield, NH and Roger Doucette and wife Sarah of Whitefield, NH; Jennifer Doucette Henry, Jeffrey Doucette and wife Rebecca, Peter Doucette and wife Majka Burhardt, Cate Doucette Whalley and husband Mike, Jim Doucette, Leanna Hamlin and husband Josh, Chris Stauder and wife Marie, and Luke Stauder; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Irene Pelletier, Helen Stevens and husband Dick, and Lillian Scholz and husband Wally; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 1:00pm at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Berlin.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.
