Mr. Richard H. Amero, 73, of Spruceville Rd., West Milan, NH passed away on Monday morning April 9, 2007 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berlin, NH on Aug. 23, 1933 the son of William and Josephine (Robida) Amero and has resided in West Milan since 1976. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by the Brown Company and James River Corporation, and retired in the mid 1990s. Richard was a wood craftsman for many years with his wife, known as Shirleys Baskets and was known in the mill as The Salesman. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and hiker, who enjoyed the outdoors. He fulfilled his last wish by giving away his granddaughter Tansi in marriage from his hospital bed at AVH 2 days before his death with the help of Dr. Cullamar and the AVH Hospital staff. He was known for his great sense of humor and jokes. He had a kind spirit. He has a strong connection with young people and loved to help others. He was very family oriented. Richard was loved and highly respected by all who knew him. Members of the family include his wife of 52 years Shirley (Beroney) Amero of West Milan; a daughter Gloria Monk and her husband Benton Sr. of Berlin; a son Ricky Amero and his wife Joan of Bethlehem, NH; 2 grandchildren Tansi LeBlanc and husband Andy of Gorham, NH and Toby Plourde and wife Lucia of Westbrook, ME; 4 Step Grandchildren Amy, Eric and Jason St.Hilaire and Benton Monk Jr.; his Godson Joey Ientile of Hooksett; 2 brothers Raymond Amero of Berlin and William Amero and his wife Lorraine of Berlin; 2 sisters Dorothy Jensen of Berlin and Shirley Aikens of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved cat Tinkerbell. He was predeceased by his parents, a son Darren Amero, a sister Pauline Washburn and by a brother Donald Amero. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2007 at 2:30 PM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in West Milan. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM.
