Richard E. Fournier

Berlin, NH

Richard E. "Dick" Fournier, a longtime resident of Smyth Street in Berlin passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 following a period of declining health. He was 76.

Born on April 8, 1937 in Berlin, NH, he was the son of Ernest and Rita (Fortier) Fournier.

He attended St. Patrick's School and Berlin High School.

He served in the NH Army National Guard from 1953-1954 and then served in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1959. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Berlin VFW and the Gorham American Legion.

On April 8, 1961, he married Cecile M. Aube of Berlin.

For many years, he was employed as a mechanic at the Granite State Rubber Company in Berlin and then worked at the James River Corp, retiring in 1985.

He was a communicant of St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish.

He was an avid lover and player of all sports including Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, and Football. He also loved to go camping with family, especially at Littlefield Beach in Maine and Roger's Campground in Lancaster, NH.

He leaves his loving wife of 52 years Cecile M. (Aube) Fournier of Berlin, Two daughters Marianne Francouer of Hooksett, NH, and Rose Jerwell of Concord, NH; a son Rick Fournier and his wife Donna of Hooksett, NH.

Four grandchildren: Lacee and Logan Fournier and Jeremy and Powell Wilson and two step-grandchildren: Michael and Stephanie LeClerc.

A sister Beverly Aikens of Berlin and a half-sister Jackie Croteau of Portland, ME

Many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Thursday, August 8 at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Berlin. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Berlin with full military honors.

Calling hours will be held from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, August 7 at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin.
