Rene Poirier

Berlin, NH



Rene Poirier of Berlin passed away surrounded by his family, on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was 80 years old.



Born on December 8, 1937 he was the son of Alfred and Grace (Jacques) Poirier. He married Doris Gagnon and together they raised a daughter and two sons. He worked for the City of Berlin in the Public Works Department.



Rene was very devoted to his Catholic Faith. As a communicant of St. Joseph Church he sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister and was always lending a hand to fellow parishioners. He was a kind man who spent much of his time caring for his daughter during her illnesses. He was an avid "New England" fan, especially the Red Sox. He and his wife Doris also enjoyed going for long walks, taking trips to the beach, cross country skiing and playing horseshoes. Rene took pride in maintaining a beautiful home; he could always be seen puttering around the yard.



Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter Denise Lavoie and two brothers Roland and Joseph Poirier.



He will be deeply missed by his family, his wife Doris (Gagnon) Poirier of Berlin; two sons; David Poirier and wife Stacy, Steven Poirier and wife Amy both of Berlin; grandchildren, Ryan Poirier and wife Jenn, Kara Poirier and significant other Adam Young, Lacey Poirier and significant other Troy Lacroix, Joshua Lavoie and wife Heather, Dana Lavoie and significant other Amanda Pike, Zachary Gosselin and wife Paige and Alex Gosselin and significant other Moriah Ramsey; two brothers, his twin brother Rudolph Poirier and his brother Ronald Poirier; several nieces and nephews.



Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass on Tuesday, November 13th from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street, Berlin, NH.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 1:00pm at St Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, Berlin. Burial will be at St. Kierans Cemetery at a later date.
